About

272a St Vincent Street, Glasgow G2 5RL

King Tut's is probably the most important small music venue in Britain. Oasis were famously signed here after a gig in 1993, and the list of bands who've played this tiny room above a pub on St Vincent Street reads like a history of British indie music — Radiohead, Blur, Coldplay, The Verve, Franz Ferdinand, and hundreds more before they were famous. The room holds about 300 people, the stage is barely raised, and the sound is excellent. It's the kind of venue where you're close enough to see the sweat on the singer's face. The booking policy still leans towards guitar music, but you'll find everything from punk to folk to electronica on the schedule. The downstairs bar is a decent pre-gig pub in its own right. Check the listings and take a punt on a band you've never heard of — the whole point of King Tut's is discovering something new. Some of the best gig nights of your life will happen in rooms this size. A Glasgow institution and a genuine piece of music history.
