Community Guidelines
Pintrekker is a community for discovering, sharing, and organising events, places, and social meetups. These Community Guidelines set out the standards we expect from everyone who uses the platform. They apply to all content and interactions, including Events, Places, Socials, reviews, comments, messages, Collections, Trips, and profiles.
These Guidelines form part of our Terms of Use. Violating them may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination.
-
Be Honest and Accurate
- Only post Events, Places, and Socials that are genuine. Do not create fake, misleading, or fraudulent listings.
- Provide accurate information — especially dates, times, locations, and pricing. If details change, update or cancel your listing promptly.
- Do not post misleading venue information. The address, map pin, and description must accurately represent the actual location.
- Do not use Pintrekker to promote ticket scams, pyramid schemes, or any form of financial fraud.
- Reviews should reflect your genuine experience. Do not post fake reviews, exchange reviews for compensation, or review your own listings.
-
What Belongs on Pintrekker
Pintrekker is a curated discovery platform — it's about the places, events, and meetups worth telling your friends about. To keep the platform genuinely useful, we ask that listings are discovery-worthy: the kind of thing that makes someone say "I had no idea that existed."
- Great listings: An indie bookshop with author events, a rooftop bar with stunning views, a hidden coastal walk, a community-run café with a pottery studio, a quirky museum nobody's heard of, a comedy night everyone's talking about.
- Not what we're for: Accommodation listings (hotels, Airbnbs, holiday lets), generic high-street chains, everyday services (dentists, estate agents, dry cleaners), private residences, and listings created primarily to advertise or sell products.
- When in doubt, ask yourself: "Would I genuinely recommend this to a friend visiting the area?" If yes, list it.
- We reserve the right to remove or de-list content that doesn't align with the platform's purpose. We'll exercise this fairly — and if a listing is borderline, we may contact you to discuss it first.
-
Be Respectful
- Treat other users with respect in all interactions — reviews, comments, messages, and social features.
- Do not use the platform for harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, or stalking.
- Do not post content that promotes hate speech, violence, extremism, terrorism, discrimination, or incitement to harm based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic.
- Do not use messaging, friend requests, or social features to spam, harass, or pressure other users.
- Constructive criticism in reviews is welcome. Personal attacks on listing editors are not.
-
Keep People Safe
- Do not create Events or Socials with the intention of causing harm, facilitating illegal activity, or putting attendees at risk.
- Do not publish private residential addresses or any location information you do not have permission to share. By submitting an Event or Place, you confirm the address is suitable for public display.
- Do not share other people's personal information (phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses) without their consent.
- If you are organising a Social (meetup), consider the safety of all attendees. Choose appropriate public venues and be transparent about the nature of the gathering.
- If you encounter content that poses an immediate safety risk, please report it immediately using the Report a Problem feature and, if appropriate, contact local authorities.
-
Respect Intellectual Property
- Only upload images you own or have permission to use.
- Do not copy content (descriptions, images, reviews) from other websites or users without permission.
- If you believe content on Pintrekker infringes your intellectual property, contact us at support@pintrekker.com.
-
No Spam or Manipulation
- Do not create duplicate listings for the same event or place.
- Do not use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the platform.
- Do not abuse the ownership claim system. Claiming listings only to delete them or disrupt the platform is prohibited and may result in your account being flagged.
- Do not abuse the invite or share features to send unsolicited bulk emails.
- Do not manipulate engagement metrics (pins, RSVPs, reviews) through fake accounts or coordinated activity.
-
Appropriate Content
- Do not post sexually explicit content, graphic violence, or content glorifying self-harm or substance abuse.
- Events and Places must comply with all applicable laws. Do not list activities that are illegal in the jurisdiction where they take place.
- File attachments must be relevant to the listing. Accepted formats: doc, docx, jpeg, jpg, png, pdf, webp (maximum 2 MB per file).
-
Meetup Safety (Socials)
Socials are user-created meetups where people who may not know each other can meet in person. While we do not organise or supervise these meetups, we encourage all users to:
- Meet in public places, especially when meeting someone for the first time.
- Let someone you trust know where you are going and who you are meeting.
- Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, leave.
- Be aware that other attendees are real people. Respect boundaries and personal space.
- Report any concerning behaviour before, during, or after a Social using the Report a Problem feature.
Pintrekker is not responsible for what happens at user-organised meetups. Please exercise appropriate caution.

How We Enforce These Guidelines
- Suggest an Edit: If you notice incorrect information on a listing (wrong address, outdated hours, etc.), you can suggest a correction to the editor. This is the preferred first step for factual errors.
- Report a Problem: If a listing contains spam, inappropriate content, or violates these Guidelines, you can submit a report. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team.
- Moderation actions: We may remove content, mark Places as closed, suspend accounts, or permanently terminate accounts depending on the severity and frequency of violations.
- Admin removal: Content removed by our moderation team is handled separately from content deleted by users.
- We do not currently offer a formal appeals process, but you may contact us at support@pintrekker.com to discuss any moderation action taken on your account or content.
-
Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page with the "Effective Date."
