About

East Bridge Street, Belfast BT1 3NQ

St George's Market is one of the finest Victorian market halls in the UK — a beautifully restored redbrick building near the waterfront that hosts three different markets each week. The Friday Variety Market has food, antiques, and crafts. The Saturday City Food and Garden Market is the big one — local food producers, artisan bakers, international street food, and live music creating a buzzing atmosphere. The Sunday Food, Craft and Antique Market rounds out the weekend. The food is outstanding. Belfast has a genuinely excellent food scene, and the market concentrates it — local cheese, soda bread, dulse seaweed, fresh fish from the harbours, and street food from around the world. The stallholders are friendly and knowledgeable, and you'll end up chatting and tasting more than you intended. The building itself is gorgeous — iron columns, a timber roof, and the kind of atmosphere that purpose-built food halls spend millions trying (and failing) to replicate. Get there mid-morning for the best selection, and come hungry. It's a short walk from the city centre. One of those places where locals and visitors mix completely naturally — the mark of a truly good market.
