Titanic Belfast
About
Titanic Belfast is one of the most impressive museums in the UK — a vast, angular building on the exact slipway where the Titanic was built, telling the story of the ship from conception to sinking across nine interactive galleries. The building itself is dramatic — four pointed prows representing the ship's bow, clad in aluminium shards that catch the Belfast light. The exhibitions are genuinely excellent. You start with Belfast at the turn of the 20th century — the industrial powerhouse that could build the world's largest ship — and follow the story through the shipyard, the launch, the maiden voyage, the sinking, the aftermath, and the ongoing exploration of the wreck. The shipyard ride through a recreation of the construction gantries is a highlight. The scale of the original construction is brought home powerfully. The Titanic Quarter surrounding the museum has been transformed — the SS Nomadic (the last remaining White Star Line ship) is moored outside, the Titanic Slipways are marked out on the ground, and the Drawing Offices where the ship was designed have been converted into a hotel. Book online to avoid queues. Allow 2-3 hours for the full experience. It's genuinely world-class — not just a Belfast must-see but a UK must-see.
