The FA Cup Final is the oldest domestic cup competition final in football — held at Wembley Stadium every May, it's the climax of a knockout tournament that begins with hundreds of clubs from the lowest tiers of English football and ends with a showpiece final watched by millions worldwide. The magic of the FA Cup is the possibility of the underdog — lower league teams occasionally reach the later rounds and the romance of the competition is built on these giant-killings. The final itself is a spectacular occasion — Wembley at full capacity (90,000), the pre-match build-up, the national anthem, and the drama of a cup final where anything can happen. Tickets are allocated to the competing clubs' fans, making them extremely difficult to get unless you support one of the finalists. The semi-finals (also at Wembley) are slightly more accessible. Watching in a pub is a brilliant alternative — the atmosphere during the final in pubs across the country is a communal sporting experience. The trophy presentation and lap of honour are iconic.
