About
The London Marathon is one of the world's six major marathons — 26.2 miles through London past iconic landmarks, with 750,000+ spectators creating a wall of support. The route passes Greenwich, Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, and The Mall, finishing before Buckingham Palace. Elite international competition combines with mass participation — charity runners in costumes, first-timers in tears, and club runners chasing PBs. The atmosphere around Tower Bridge and the final mile is extraordinary. Entry by ballot (apply by end of April). Charity and Good for Age places also available. The London Marathon has raised over £1 billion for charity — the largest annual fundraising event in the world.
