About

Sefton Park, Liverpool L17 1AP

Sefton Park is Liverpool's crown jewel — 235 acres of Victorian parkland in the south of the city that was designed to rival the great parks of Paris and London. The centrepiece is the Palm House — a stunning octagonal glass conservatory from 1896 that houses tropical plants and hosts events. The park also contains a boating lake, waterfalls, a bandstand, a fairy glen, ancient trees, and wide open spaces that make it one of the finest urban parks in England. The park has a genuine community heartbeat. On sunny weekends it fills with families, runners, picnickers, and groups playing football and cricket. The Lark Lane entrance connects to one of Liverpool's best food and drink streets. The annual Africa Oyé festival (the UK's largest free African music festival) takes place here every June and is spectacular. The Palm House has been beautifully restored and hosts regular events — concerts, exhibitions, and private hire. The perimeter walk takes about an hour and passes through varied landscapes. Sefton Park feels democratic and loved in a way that mirrors Liverpool's character — grand but unpretentious, beautiful but accessible to everyone.
