About

50 Pacific Quay, Glasgow G51 1EA

Glasgow Science Centre is three floors of interactive science exhibits on the south bank of the Clyde, and it's one of the best days out in Glasgow for families. The hands-on exhibits cover everything from the human body and optical illusions to engineering challenges and space exploration. Kids can build bridges, create animations, operate a real TV studio, and launch rockets. The planetarium shows are excellent — proper full-dome immersive experiences on a range of topics. The IMAX-style Science Theatre shows giant-screen films. The rotating Glasgow Tower next door (when it's working — it's been temperamental over the years) offers views up and down the Clyde. It's a proper full-day visit with kids, especially if you combine the exhibits with a planetarium show and a film. Book planetarium tickets when you arrive as they sell out, particularly during school holidays. The café is decent but pricey — there are cheaper options along the Clyde if you want to pop out for lunch. Gets very busy during school holidays, so weekdays in term time are ideal if you can manage it.
