Three floors of landscaped public gardens at the top of the 'Walkie Talkie' skyscraper at 20 Fenchurch Street — and it's completely free. The views across London from 155 metres up are extraordinary: the Tower of London and Tower Bridge are right below you, the Shard looms across the river, and on a clear day you can see for miles in every direction. The gardens themselves are genuinely impressive — not just a few potted plants but a proper tropical landscape designed by Gillespies, with Mediterranean and South African planting zones. There are several bars and restaurants up here too, including the Darwin Brasserie and Fenchurch Restaurant if you want to make an evening of it. You must book a free timed ticket in advance — they release slots three weeks ahead and popular times (especially sunset) go fast. Walk-ins are sometimes possible but don't count on it. It's a beautiful date spot and one of the best free things to do in London.
