Manchester Pride is one of the UK's largest LGBTQ+ events — a four-day festival in the Gay Village and beyond, featuring a major parade through the city centre, live music across multiple stages, a candlelit vigil, and community events. The parade is a massive, joyful procession that draws hundreds of thousands of spectators. The Big Weekend in the Gay Village features headline music acts on outdoor stages. The candlelit vigil on Monday evening, remembering those lost to HIV/AIDS and ongoing struggles for LGBTQ+ rights, is a powerful and moving counterpoint to the weekend's celebrations. Manchester's LGBTQ+ community has deep roots — the Gay Village on Canal Street has been a visible, vibrant community hub since the 1990s.
