Great North Run 2026

The Great North Run is the world's largest half marathon — over 60,000 runners following 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields on the coast. The course crosses the iconic Tyne Bridge, passes through communities lining the streets, and finishes on the seafront in one of the most emotional sporting experiences in Britain. Elite runners complete it in around an hour; most take 1.5 to 3 hours. The crowd support is legendary — residents set up music stations and cheer every runner.
